Carissime sorelle, carissimi fratelli,
Il Signore vi dia Pace!
È per me occasione di grande gioia poter essere oggi qui a Betlemme, luogo dove gli angeli hanno invitato a gioire per la nascita di Gesù, luogo dove gli angeli ci hanno ricordato che siamo amati da Dio, luogo che ci ricorda che in Gesù Dio si è fatto vicino a ciascuno di noi e nostro Salvatore.
Desidero ringraziare le autorità religiose e civili qui presenti, il p. Guardiano di Betlemme che mi ha accolto con sentimenti fraterni, il Parroco insieme a tutta la comunità e i fedeli di questo luogo tanto caro al cuore di ognuno di noi.
Da parte mia vi auguro ogni bene nel Signore Gesù. Lui che in questo luogo è nato e ha portato al mondo il Sorriso di Dio porti pace e gioia dentro la vita di ognuno di voi, specialmente di coloro che si trovano ad attraversare un momento di difficoltà o di sofferenza.
La Vergine Maria che qui ha dato al mondo il Salvatore vi ottenga ogni grazia e vi accompagni con il suo cuore immacolato e materno.
San Giuseppe che ha potuto qui contemplare e adorare il Figlio di Dio che si è fatto bambino aiuti anche ognuno di voi ad accogliere la Vergine Maria e il bambino Gesù nella vostra vita e nelle vostre case.
Di nuovo a tutti ed a ciascuno: Pace e Bene nel Signore.

My dearest sisters and brothers,
May the Lord give you Peace!
1. It is for me an occasion of great joy to be present here today in Bethlehem, the place where the angels have invited us to rejoice in the birth of Jesus, the place where the angels remind us that we have been loved by God, the place which reminds us that we are loved by God, the place which reminds us that in Jesus God is close to each and every one of us and is our Saviour.
I would like to thank the religious and civil authorities present, the Father Guardian of Bethlehem who has welcomed me with fraternal sentiments together with the Parish and the entire community and faithful of this place which is so dear to the heart of each and every one of us.
On my part I wish you all good in the Lord Jesus. He who was born in this place and who brought God's smile to this world, will bring peace and joy in the life of each and every one of you, especially of those who are going through a moment of difficulty and suffering.
May the Virgin Mary, who in this place has given the Saviour to the world, obtain for you all kinds of grace, and may she accompany you with her immaculate and maternal heart.
May Saint Joseph, who in this place contemplated and adored the Son of God who became a child, help each and every one of you to welcome the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus in your life and in your homes.
Once more, to all and to each of you: Peace and all Good in the Lord.
