A website for Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Cyprus

On Cyprus, preparations for Pope Benedict XVI’s visit continue. The three days of his visit - June 4-6 - the first of a Sovereign Pontiff on the island, will be dense for the Holy Father and for the Church of Cyprus.

The aim of the website www.papalvisit.org.cy which was launched by the local communications team in charge of communication concerning the journey, is to furnish the press as well as the visitors and the faithful with all kinds of information. It is fed by information compiled by the team itself, but whoever wants to collaborate in giving documentation by sending photographs, videos, texts, etc. is welcome.

A good opportunity to respond to the pope’s desire as expressed on Sunday, April 25, to the participants in a congress on "Digital Witness": Benedict XVI encouraged them with the words: "I exhort you to walk the roads of the digital continent, animated by the courage of the Holy Spirit. Our confidence is not uncritically placed in any instrument of technology. Our strength lies in being Church, believing community, able to bear witness to all the perennial newness of the Risen One, with a life that blooms in fullness in the measure that it opens up, enters into relation, gives itself gratuitously."

The Custody website has also opened a session on the theme of Benedict XVI’s trip to Cyprus.

There you can already find two videos on the theme of Cyprus; they were made (in Italian) by the Franciscan Multimedia Center.
