Tour of the Magnificat in Switzerland

Three young pianists of the Magnificat (the Custody of the Holy Land’s school of music) performed at a concert held at the Conservatoire of Italian-speaking Switzerland in Lugano on 17th March and at the Popular Conservatoire of Music, Dance and Theatre in Geneva on 19th March.

The musicians were Annie Aslanian, Ruba Qaimari and Marianne Hazou and were invited by the Swiss association “Friends of the Magnificat” which sponsored the “Nikolaus de la Flue” piano competition, held in Jerusalem last January. The girls were the winners in different categories (other winners will perform in Italy in June). Accompanied by their teacher Emma Spitkovski and by Brother Riccardo Ceriani, the musicians were welcomed by the President of the Association, Véronique Nebel, who also acted as the group’s guide during their free time and for the journey from Lugano to Geneva (astonishment in front of the fresco showing the plan of Jerusalem in the Church of St. Mary of the Angels in Lugano and the climb with the highest train in Europe to the Jungfrau glacier at 3454 metres above sea level was spectacular).

In addition to the significance of the artistic event, the Swiss tour of the Magnificat allowed rekindling the bonds of friendship with the members of the “Friends of the Magnificat” association and forming relations with Swiss cultural institutions and the local media.
