The Pastoral letter of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy land, on the occasion of the Year of Faith 2012-2013

2012/10/11

Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1)

The Roman Catholic Church inaugurates a new year entitled the “Year of Faith,” announced by Pope Benedict XVI.

Beginning October 11, 2012, through October 24, 2012, the Year of Faith coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Council.
The symbol used by the Catholic Ordinaries in their message captures well this Year of Faith: a stylized sailboat.
The boat, which symbolically represents the Church, has set sale; the mast is a cross with the sales represented by dynamic markings that make the trigram of Christ, IHS. Against the backdrop of sails, one can see the sun, associates with the trigram, referring to the Eucharist. The whole is inserted into a square field.

The official theme song for the Year of Faith, “I believe, Lord, increase our faith”, was translated into Arabic by the team of professionals from Nazareth, under the supervision of Bishop Boulos Marcuzzo. It will be sung, in the Holy Land, by Rabab Zaitoun, with technical management under the supervision of Luai Zaher, along with the well-known musician Yousef El Khel.
