In memory of Osama Hamdan

In memory of Osama Hamdan

This morning, Thursday 8 February 2024, our friend and collaborator Osama Hamdan returned to the House of the Father. A Muslim Palestinian, with his precious work as an architect and restorer, he worked on the maintenance of Jewish, Christian and Muslim sites throughout the Holy Land, profoundly convinced that cultural heritage is a service for dialogue and peace.

Through the Pro Terra Sancta association, he contributed to the preservation of the heritage of the Franciscans and to the maintenance of the Holy Places: Bethany, Dominus Flevit, Gethsemane, Magdala and, in recent months, the Holy Sepulchre. Following in the steps of the Franciscan archaeologist Michele Piccirillo, he specialized in the art of the mosaic, even co-founding and then directing the Mosaic Centre of Jericho.

The Custos of the Holy Land, fra Francesco Patton, together with the Vicar, fra Ibrahim Faltas, and all the friars of the Custody of the Holy Land are close to Clara, his wife, his daughters  Alessia and Marta, and all his family and his colleagues.
