Fra Dobromir Jasztal elected new Custodial Vicar

In session since July 1, the Chapter of the Custody has elected Fra Dobromir Jasztal
to be the new Custodial Vicar.

Fra Dobromir Jasztal

Of Polish nationality, he was born in 1966. He entered the Province of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Poland) in 1982. He made his solemn profession in 1989 and was ordained priest in 1992. He entered the service of the Custody of the Holy Land that same year.

Fra Dobromir is a professor of canon law at the Studium Theologicum at Saint Savior monastery in Jerusalem. Custodial Bursar from 2007 to 2010, he has since been the Guardian of Saint John in Ain Kerem.
Fra Dobromir speaks Polish and Italian.


Role
The Vicar is a member of the Curia of the Custody. He gives full assistance to the Custos in performing his role: in the absence of the Custos, he takes on the offices and assignments that would come under the competence of the latter and in the event of the position of Custos falling vacant, it is the Vicar who calls, within 15 days, the Discretorium of the Custody to proceed with a new election.
