The solemn celebrations for the patron saint were held on Saturday 26th June at the Church of St. Peter in Jaffa.
The Celebration of the Eucharist was presided by the Custos, Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa who, during his sermon, underlined how Peter, a simple and generous man, was chosen by Jesus Christ, with all his humanity, as the “rock on which to build His Church”.
The various Christian Catholic communities, including the Filipino, Latin American, Polish and Hebrew-speaking ones, attended the Holy Mass. The Hebrew-speaking community also provided the liturgical animation with songs in Hebrew.
The celebrations came to an end with a fraternal banquet shared by all the communities, who offered typical dishes from their local cuisines. The pastoral service of the Convent offers liturgical occasions for the different communities, and also places at their disposal spaces to foster community life.
