The visit by the Minister General of the Order of the Friars Minor to the Custody of the Holy Land continues.
After a day spent in the company of the friars at St. Saviour, Father Josè Carballo visited the Poor Clares of Jerusalem on Wednesday June 15. The Mother Superior, Sister Cristiana, and the other sisters welcomed the Minister in the afternoon in the beautiful setting of the convent garden, which has a splendid view of the Holy City.
A few years ago, Father Carballo, together with Father Pizzaballa, Custos of the Holy Land, made a special commitment to ensure that the community of the Poor Clares remained in the Holy Land.
In the morning, the General attended the General Chapter of the Franciscans of Jerusalem and Judea, at the Convent of St. Saviour. The main subjects of this meeting included administrative topics.
The purpose of the discussion was primarily to find ways of improving the management and resources of the Custody of the Holy Land, so that progress can continue in the attention and care that the Franciscans - for centuries - have for the places of salvation and for the local Christian community. Tomorrow, Thursday June 16, the Minister will be in Galilee for a similar meeting.
