During a weekend rich in meaningful events for the local and universal Church, with the departure of Msgr. Michel Sabbah and the installation of the new Patriarch, His Beatitude Msgr. Fouad Twal, the Custody of the Holy Land came together on Sunday the 22nd for a more familial celebration. During its Sunday Mass, the Community embraced all the friars who are celebrating jubilees this year.
For the youngest friars, their older brothers’ years of service to God and the Custody is a sign of God’s faithfulness.
There is no doubt that the jubilarian friars have known their share of all kinds of trials, but the joy on their faces, the depth of their recollection, tells us that the Lord has exercised over them a powerful attraction that has not been disappointed . After the Mass of thanksgiving, the celebration continued in the refectory with a festive meal.
The jubilarians of 2008 are:
- Brother Basilio Tallatinian 70 years of priesthood
- Brother Emilio Barcena 50 years of priesthood
- Brother Ignacio Peña 50 years of priesthood
- Brother Armando Pierucci 50 years of priesthood
- Brother Carlo Serri 25 years of priesthood
- Brother Antonio Foley 70 years of profession
- Brother Giuseppe Marra 70 years of profession
- Brother Agripino Cabezón 60 years of profession
- Brother Beda An 60 years of profession
- Brother Dobromir Jasztal 25 years of profession
- Brother Ekspedyt Lisiecki 70 years in the Holy Land
