The Chief of Staff of the Italian Army visits the Custody

Yesterday afternoon, the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, General Giuseppe Valotto, and his wife Maria were received by the Father Custos.

The General, on an official visit to Israel, wanted to dedicate a day of pilgrimage to Jerusalem, with Father Quirico Colella OFM, who has been the chaplain ministering to Italian soldiers in the Middle East for over twenty years, acting as his guide.
Speaking about the relations between Italy and Israel, the General expressed his gratitude for the memorial on Mount Precipice, where Israel planted trees for Italian soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

The General and his wife then told the Father Custos of their pilgrimage experience and the intensity of their intense during the day.
The meeting ended with an exchange of Christmas greetings and gifts and the Custos of the Holy Land gave the pilgrim’s gold medal to the Chief of Staff.
