The second day of the Chapter of Mats began with the Morning prayer in language groups. After the breakfast the friars divided according to the Conferences, that is to say, the geographic areas that their Province belong.
All the Conferences (African, English Speaking, South Asia and the Australia, Eastern Asia, Bolivariana, Brasiliana, South Cone, Central Europe, Iberian, Italy and Albania, Mexico and America Central, South-Slavica and North-Slavica). It was the opportunity to meet each other and to prepare the night party.
At 11.30 a.m. the initial Eucharist, presided by the general Minister, was celebrated in front of the Announciation’s Grotto with great solemnity. At the end of the Mass, every friar entered into the Grotto to renew in silence his “yes” to the Lord. “Yes” that has to be pronounced with the life more than the words.
In the afternoon br. Frédéric Manns, professor of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum of Jerusalem, emphasized the message of Nazareth (of silence, work and family life), according to the words used by the pope Paul VI in his historical pilgrimage in the Holy Land, and so he introduced the guided visit to the Sanctuary in language groups.
The Evening prayer in front of the Grotto, presided by the general Definitor br. Finian McGinn, at the presence of H.E. Msgr. Giacinto Boulos Marcuzzo, Auxiliary Bishop of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, concluded the liturgical moments of this extraordinary Sunday in Nazareth. After the supper the friars, divided in Conferences, presented the young life of the Franciscans, with songs, dances and testimonies of all around the world.
