This afternoon, 30th of June, began in Nazareth the III International young Friars’ Minor Chapter of Mats. The brothers, gathered in Galilee from all over the world, arrived in several buses and were welcomed in the house of the Catholic Action where they received their “kit” for the Chapter, with all necessary things for meetings, prayer and visits to the holy places.
The supper took place in the Casa Nova, where most of the brothers lodge. With a rosary procession leading from the vestibule of the Basilica of Annunciation the first day of the chapter concluded. With local Christians and pilgrims from all over the world the 200 brothers participating in this gathering recited rosary in several languages.
The Custos of the Holy Land, fr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, in his opening speech invited not only to make of Nazaret a devotion place, but to assume a way of life following the holy family’s silent example. The general Minister of friars minor, fr. Jose R. Carballo, welcomed all “in the Mother’s house, which is also the house of each of us”.
He wished that this Chapter could help all of us to reflect and to renew the own “yes”, according to Mary’s life, and still more, the “yes” of Jesus.
The Chapter will be a precious time to meditate the Word of God and to pray that his will shall be done “secundum Verbum tuum”.
