The Assembly of the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land continues its work

Jerusalem, March 16th

On 15th and 16th March, the Assembly of the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land held its plenary meeting at the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

Established in 1992, this Assembly is made up of Catholic ordinaries of the different rites, having as jurisdiction the territory of the Holy Land. The aim of the Assembly is to coordinate the testimony of the Gospel, service to the community and establish a common pastoral action for the good of the whole Church.

While the work is not new, it has however been renewed and encouraged by the Special Synod of Bishops on the Middle East which was held last October. This session was also the first after this major event for the Church of the Holy Land.

It will be remembered that all the participants at the Synod returned satisfied with the debate and exchange, but perhaps even more so for having had the opportunity of an original experience of fraternity.
On the other hand, it was also the Synod that influenced the work of the Assembly in these two days. The Assembly is in fact responsible for bringing the spirit and the resolutions of the Synod to life again in the dioceses.

On the conclusion of its plenary meeting, the Assembly of Ordinaries invited the members of the diocesan clergy and of the institutes of consecrated life, the students of the Biblical, institutions, the seminarians and the novitiates and the Catholic parishes of Jerusalem to the official opening of the pilgrimage of St. Thérèse.

This is an opportunity, for the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land, to allow the diocese to experience another communion, that of the saints.
