The Alleluia Festival in Haifa

Alleluia, is the title of a music festival which was held in Haifa last Saturday. The Shalom community -- explains Lorena -- presented the Alleluia festival in the afternoon, and it was open to people of all ages so that they might see, in the event, the meaning of life.

The aim of the festival is to give young people an idea of the meaning of life through joy beyond the confines of a church, recognizing that Jesus is alive today, and that he can speak to us through the language of music.

The first Alleluia Festival was staged in Brazil thirteen years ago. It has become more and more popluar among young Catholics. And now in the land of Jesus himself, it is attracting yet others, particularly the young.

The founder of our cummunity has devised a way of telling young people about Jesus through theatre, music and dance. Jesus is not old, but young, like us, and has a message for today. It is through this festival they we are trying to communicate this.

Over several hours, improvising musicians appealed to everyone on this sunny afternoon, and the international language of music made it easier to understand the questions that we all ask.
