The Bull of Indiction

Every Jubilee is proclaimed through the publication of a Papal Bull (or Pontifical Bull) of indiction. “Bull” means an official document, generally written in Latin, with the Pope’s seal, the form of which gives its name to the document. Each Bull is identified by its opening words. That of the indiction of the 2025 Jubilee starts with the words “Spes non confundit” (Hope does not disappoint). The dates of the start and the end of the Holy Year are given in the Bull of Indiction of the Jubilee. The 2025 Jubilee opens on 25 December 2024 in St Peter’s Basilica and on 29 December in all the Dioceses and ends on 28 December 2025.
