The Jubilee can be ordinary, with pre-established dates (every 25 years) or extraordinary, if it is proclaimed for some particularly important event. The 2025 Jubilee is the 27th Ordinary Jubilee and was announced by Pope Francis with the Bull “Spes non confundit” of 9 May 2024. It opens on 25 December in St Peter’s Basilica and on 29 December in all the Dioceses and closes on 28 December 2025. It is possible to obtain the “jubilee” plenary indulgence by going through the holy doors of the papal basilicas in Rome, in all the Jubilee Places indicated by the Holy See and by the Ordinaries of the Place at diocesan level, and according to the Rules issued by the Apostolic Penitentiary.
