New hope for children with special needs at Helen Keller School in Beit Hanina

A new pavilion has been inaugurated at the Helen Keller School in Beit Hanina, an institution that has been accompanying girls and boys with special educational needs for years. The school, supported by the Custody of the Holy Land, confirms itself as a place where education is intertwined with inclusion, care, and respect for the dignity of every person.

“It is not ability that counts, but the will to grow”

Br. Francesco Ielpo, custos of the Holy Land, described the inauguration as a moment of great emotion. "It was clear that what matters is not so much the abilities we possess, but the will to grow and become great," he said.

Br. Ibrahim Faltas, director of the Terra Santa schools, shared the enthusiasm experienced during the opening: "today we inaugurated the first floor of the Helen Keller School. Everyone was welcomed with songs and words of celebration, it was wonderful."

Br. Paulo Francisco Paulista, also director, recalled that the Helen Keller School is much more than a place of education, it is "a refuge of dignity and hope" where students receive not only teaching but also listening, attention, and emotional support. The renovated classrooms and refurbished spaces bear witness to a concrete commitment to guarantee each one a future full of possibilities.

The gratitude of the families

Parents expressed gratitude for the work carried out, emphasizing how their children are truly experiencing meaningful changes thanks to the educational and relational path offered by the school.

The custos concluded with words of hope:

"this is a piece of heaven here on earth. Where there is a will to commit, there is already a fragment of paradise. Here in Jerusalem, in this small corner, we build a future of peace and justice, with men and women who desire the good of all."
