Following the fire yesterday, 4th December, in the Basilica of the Agony at Gethsemane, at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, a mass presided by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Mons. Pierattista Pizzaballa and concelebrated by the Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Francesco Patton, will be celebrated on Sunday 6th December at 10 a.m. in the church.
A man has been arrested by the police and investigations are currently underway. There were no casualties, even though the furnishings of the church and the floor show some damage. We hope that light will be thrown on those who were responsible for this and that these facts are not repeated, so that we can continue living in the reciprocal respect between different faiths and cultures, which characterize the Holy Land.
