General conditions:
All the truly penitents faithful, excluding any affection for sin and motivated by a spirit of charity which, during the Holy Year, purified through the sacrament of penance and restored by Holy Communion, will pray for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff, can obtain the fullest indulgence, remission and forgiveness for their sins, to be applied to the souls of Purgatory in the form of suffrage.
In the Holy Land:
- If they go on a pious pilgrimage to at least one of the three basilicas: of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, of the Nativity in Bethlehem and of the Annunciation in Nazareth. By taking part devoutly in a Holy Mass; in a ritual Mass for the conferment of the sacraments of Christian initiation or the Unction of the ill; in the celebration of the Word of God; in the Liturgy of the Hours; in the Via Crucis; in the Marian Rosary; in the Acathist hymn; or in a penitential celebration, which ends with the individual confessions of the penitents.
- The faithful can obtain the Jubilee indulgence if, individually, or in a group, they make a pious visit to any Jubilee site and there, for an appropriate period of time, remain in the adoration of the Eucharist and meditation, concluding with the Lord’s Prayer, the Profession of the Faith in any legitimate form and invocations to Mary, the Mother of God, so that in this Holy Year everyone “will come to know the closeness of Mary the most affectionate of mothers, who never abandons her children” (Spes non confundit, 24).
