From The Marches to The Holy Land:
A musical journey inspired by the works of Gaspare Spontini and Fr. Armando Pierucci

Fr. Armando Pierucci returns to the Holy Land to play the organ in two special concerts taking place in Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Sharing the stage with him are: the “Gaspare Spontini Choir,” the “Magnificat Choir” and two guest musicians: the baritone Giampiero Ruggeri and the trumpet player Marco Lorenzetti.

The “Gaspare Spontini Choir” – established and directed by Maestro Michele Quagliani – is named after the renowned composer native of Maiolati Spontini, who became a celebrated figure in the Paris of Napoleon. The repertoire of the Spontini Choir includes compositions by the greatest composers of the 17th century and pieces of sacred music, specifically Gregorian chants.

The “Magnificat Choir” is the choir of the Magnificat Institute, the music school of the Custody of The Holy Land founded by Fr. Armando Pierucci in 1995. Established to serve during the liturgical events of the Latin Church in the Holy Land, the “Magnificat Choir” will be conducted by Maestro Hani Kreitem.

The baritone Giampiero Ruggeri has performed in Vienna, Tokyo, Berlin and, of course, in Italy with the most prestigious Italian orchestras. Marco Lorenzetti, on the other hand, studied the trumpet at the Conservatory of Pesaro where he obtained his diploma.

The concerts’ programs will include compositions by Fr. Armando Pierucci, Gaspare Spontini, César Franck and Lino Liviabella.

The two concerts are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m (St. Saviour’s Church – Jerusalem) and Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m (St. Catherine's Church – Bethlehem). The entrance is free of charge.

This event is supported by the Regione Marche.
