Spiritual Retreat in Loreto

After four busy days, the aspirants have finished a preparatory spiritual retreat for the official entrance for their year of Postulancy.
The eight young men, coming from all over the world, Accompanied by their master Fra Antonino Milazzo, arrived to the Salesian’s retreat house in Loreto, few meters away from the Holy House of Mary, one of the most important Marian Sanctuaries of the world. The walls of this house (According to the tradition) had sawn the prodigious events of the Annunciation and the first years of the hidden life of the Lord, “And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man”.
The retreat, predicated by Fra Renato Martino, parish priest and rector of the Mombaroccio Sanctuary (PU) in Le Marche, involved five meditations regarding spiritual life, conversion of life and fraternal life, with praying, silence and sharing moments in between. In addition, the group had the opportunity to visit the Sanctuary and the Museum that by the time housed an important exposition of paintings from the XII to the XIX centuries, having as main topic Mary Magdalene as a symbol of the Jubilee year of Mercy. Accompanied by an expert guide, the aspirants were led to the discovering of the beauty of the artworks kept and collected by the sanctuary throughout the centuries, as well as the history and development of the sanctuary itself.
The retreat was concluded with the Mass at the Holy House and a fraternal prayer thanking the days spent at Loreto and entrusting the upcoming year to the Virgin Mary. Finally, Wednesday afternoon, the aspirants and their master returned to the Convent of San Fortunato in Montefalco, looking forward for the celebration of the official entrance to the fraternity, which took place October 2nd with the presence of Fra Giuseppe Ferrari, delegate of the Custodian of the Holy Land in Italy.
