Vocations “come and follow me”

Entrance To The Postulancy

Eight young men coming from Ecuador (Fabian and Javier), Colombia (Juan), Lebanon (Cedric and Elie), Syria (Mike), Irak (Noor) and Italy (Lorenzo), have done their official entrance to the postulancy year for the Custody of the Holy Land. The celebration, dated October 2, was done during the communal prayer of Sunday’s second vespers at the Postulancy’s house in San Fortunato convent (Montefalco) where the postulants prepare to live together this new stage of the formation process accompanied by their trainers.
During the rite of entrance, the young men were welcomed by the delegate of the Custodian of the Holy Land in Italy, Father Giuseppe Ferrari. They asked, reciting the formula provided by the ritual, to verify together with the fraternity their vocation, to be accompanied in the conversion of life process as well as being educated to live in fraternity with patience and joy. After the recitation of the psalms and the listening of the readings taken from both the Gospel of Saint John and Celano’s First Live of St. Francis, the delegate admitted them to the year of Postulancy. In his homily, father Giuseppe remembered how Saint Francis listened to the voice of God retreating from the world looking for the way that the Lord had planned for him. In addition, father Giuseppe urged the young men to be strong in the trails that will come, docile to the action of the Holy Spirit and to the advice of their trainers, remembering the grace and beauty of living in fraternity and simplicity, the path traced by Saint Francis in the form of life of the Friars Minor. At the end of the homily, the postulants received as a sign for their new live, the Tau, image of the cross and love of Christ and the Franciscan Fonts, the source for their path as a new fraternity. After the chant of the Magnificat and the faithful’s prayers, father Giuseppe gave the final blessing and with the chant of the Salve Sancte Pater the celebration was concluded. At the end of the day, both the friars and the postulants gathered for a moment of fraternal sharing.
