Vocations “come and follow me”

Angela declared Saint!

Saturday, January 4th, we, the Postulants of Montefalco, together with Fra Evencio, Fra Bahjat, Fra Antonino, Fra Alessandro, and the whole Seraphic family, joined in the festivities with the Diocese of Foligno, as they celebrated the official declaration of St. Angela’s holiness,a Franciscan tertiary (1248-1309). To the solemn Eucharistic Celebration attended by three Cardinals, ten bishops and sixty priests was presided by Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. The celebration started with the veneration of the body of Angela in the church of Saint Francis, and went on to reading the official letter where the Pope, on last October 9, finally declared that there would no longer be Blessed Angela, but Saint Angela of Foligno. Angela, whose mystical experience remains in faithful record in the “Liber”, thanks to Father Arnold, her confessor, continues to charms because of its powerful encounter with Saint Francis, and her spiritual union with Christ the Crucified. The testimony of her conversion, evolving from the very depths of self-discovery, is a shining beacon to guide the eyes that behold it to an unavoidable truth: that only the daily encounter and gracious offer of ourselves in the hands of the Lord will transform our lives into True Life.
